Kalgoorlie Trip: Remote Audiology September 2004

Trip to Kalgoorlie and surrounds, including Leonora

In late September Clinical Co-ordinator Peta Monley and 8 students travelled to Kalgoorlie and its surrounding region to help with hearing testing in adults and children in the region, including the aboriginal population. This was good for the region, but equally useful for the students, who were near the end of their first year of our Master of Clinical Audiology course. They gained experience in remote audiology, which is quite different from suburban or city practice, and gained experience in paediatric testing, applying techniques they had learnt in the first and second semesters of their two-year course. Many thanks are due to the students who participated, to the staff, families and friends who helped in the Goldfields, and to Peta Monley who organized the trip.
