Otology for Audiologists & Cerumen Workshop 2005
August at UWA Club & Physiology
In August 2005 UWA Audiology was delighted to have the company of the well known Melbourne Surgeon Dr. Burkhard Franz to present a day of Otology for the Audiologist on Saturday August 6th and four Cerumen Workshops on Sunday August 7th. Dr. Franz is originally from Hamburg where he practised at both the University Clinic as OberArzt and later in his own private clinic. He studied Audiology soon after arriving in Australia in the early '80s, and later ran the Bionic Ear Programme under Dr. Graeme Clark at the University of Melbourne and the Royal Eye and Ear Hospital for nine years. He now has his own private practice in Melbourne, and researches many aspects of cochlear and vestibular function in humans and in rat models of various pathologies. We were thrilled to have the benefit of Dr. Franz's unusual mix of audiology, otolology, an interest in fundamental research and his extraordinary ability to communicate at all levels as required. He was a joy to work with, and has contributed greatly to the education of our students. |
