Eligibility and Selection Process (including Entrance Exam in January)

Entry into the Masters course requires:
(i) good grades in any undergraduate university degree,
(ii) a pass in an entrance examination, based on prescribed pre-reading in the audiological area (available soon),
(iii) an interview to determine if the student has a good grasp of the requirements for the profession of audiology and our course.

Entry into the combined Masters/PhD course requires:
(i) the same requirements for the Masters course, but with an Honours degree giving a good background into research,
(ii) a supervisor and area of research acceptable to The University of Western Australia and the audiology course co-ordinator.
(iii) studying for a PhD requires a great deal of forward planning and discussions with the course co-ordinator and a prospective supervisor.

Prospective students must make a formal application through The School of Biomedical and Chemical Sciences by the 1st week in December of the year preceding their intended entry into either programme.  Intending applicants must obtain an application form from The administrative Officer, Faculty of Science, or download the relevant forms from the link opposite. In addition to the application form, applicants must include letters of recommendation from two academic referees and a copy of their official academic record at the time of application. An application form for admission as a candidate into the degree of Master of Clinical Audiology (application form) and the combined programme for the degrees of Master of Clinical Audiology and Doctor of Philosophy (application form) are available to download online. Students who have gained standing in other universities or similar tertiary institutions may be admitted to status to proceed to further studies by downloading the Application for Admission to Status. Students must attach certified transcripts of their academic record(s) from other institution(s) to the application.

All applicants must forward to The School of Biomedical and Chemical Sciences an official copy of the results of their completed Bachelor's degree or equivalent, as soon as these become available, showing the grades achieved in all subjects. Applicants wishing to upgrade a postgraduate diploma qualification must forward a copy of their diploma. Applicants will be notified of their provisional selection in December. Final acceptance into the program may be conditional on appraisal of final examination results and referees reports. Students with a Bachelor's pass degree or higher in any subject area, from any recognized university or equivalent are eligible to apply for entry into the Master of Clinical Audiology.

Students with a Bachelor's degree with Honours (grade of 2A or higher) or equivalent, may apply for entry into the Combined PhD/Masters programme. In addition to the requirements for the Masters application and selection, these students must also forward to the Faculty Administrative Officer a copy of a reference from their honours supervisor, or equivalent, attesting to their suitability and level of preparation for PhD research.
